Please Shop Locally This Christmas Season!
I'm a big advocate of local businesses... after all, I am a small business owner myself. I believe that if you support the folks in your neighborhood and town, then it will cycle around and benefit everyone... from the boutique owner, to the waitress to the real estate agent. That being said, on Black Friday I decided to brave the traffic and check out all the great goods our local merchants had to offer.
First I popped by The French Door in Nags Head, where they were offering 20% off everything in the store. I found a gorgeous necklace for someone on my Christmas list (I won't say who, because she reads this blog!). I'm pretty sure I'll head back again mid-week to get a few other things. They have the prettiest leather bracelets with silver charms that have various sayings engraved on them. I'm adding that to my own "wish" list!
The family and I took a walk through Barr-ee Station's annual tent sale and scored some brand name clothing at SUPER cheap prices. For those who haven't been, Barr-ee gets all sorts of clothes from J. Crew to Abercrombie & Fitch and more.
I didn't make it--but plan on getting there this week--to Amity, the cutest, hippest little boutique in Kitty Hawk. When I was there a few weeks ago, she had plenty of Holiday party dresses on sale. She also offers a "pre-loved" clothing section where you can find amazing, gently-used clothing, purses and shoes for bargain basement prices. I've seen "pre-loved" jeans in there that would retail new for nearly $200, selling for around $20. What a deal!
Anyway, as the Christmas season approaches, I'll keep you, dear readers, abreast of my other local shopping choices on the Outer Banks. Happy Holidays and Buy Local!!!
