Grandy Pumpkin Patch & Hayride

In previous years I've written about the wonderful Grandy Greenhouse and its fall festivities.  Just about twenty minutes across the Wright Memorial Bridge in Grandy on the left is the Grandy Greenhouse.  Their market is full of wonderful fall vegetables--pumpkins squash and gourds galore!--and tasty homemade treats like pies, sauces and fudge.  But the best thing about the Grandy Greenhouse in October is the pumpkin patch.

For just $6.50 per person, you and your child can take a hayride through the forest to a hidden pumpkin patch.  Great for adorable photo ops, scarecrows and bales of hay adorn the field.  Each person (children included) get to pick their own pumpkin to keep.  When the hayride returns to the Greenhouse, they put on a how-to-make apple cider demonstration and give everyone samples.  This is followed by singing and scarecrow stuffing and--my son's favorite--frozen yogurt.  If you have young children, this is a blast--and you'll have a pumpkin to take home for carving.  Call (252)453-2658 for more information.
