More Thoughts on Irene...
My husband and I own a print and design business, so most of our clientele are local businessmen and women. Occasionally, however, a vacationer needs our services, as was the case with a woman who called to have ceremony programs printed for her daughter's September wedding. She told me that she was worried about celebrating such a happy occasion here in the wake of Irene. She said she didn't want to seem disrespectful to local folks who had suffered from the storm. I told her--and I'm telling you--that we Outer Bankers are happy to have the business right now. We welcome visitors back, and trust me--we were just as upset as the tourists to have our summer (and money-making season for most) cut short. So please don't feel as if you're returning too soon to our beautiful beaches. We're glad to have you here, and we appreciate the business!
