JOIN the FUN!: World-Class Surfing Events this September

The Outer Banks is home to hundreds of surfers.  Most of these women and men are only recreational surfers; while some surf competitively.  Of those, only a select few make it far enough to gain "pro" status and earn a living from competitions and sponsorships.

Those local pro surfers can attest that the waves here can be just as challenging and unforgiving as anywhere on the East Coast.  So this year two major competitions will be held here on the Outer Banks this September.  From September 18-24, the ESA (Eastern Surfing Association) will hold their Easterns Surfing Championship at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.  Come and watch surf legends of tomorrow as they launch their career.  Check out surfesa.org for more information.  Dovetailing with ESA competition is the Hurley Outer Banks Pro, held from September 23-25 at the new Jennette's Pier in Nags Head.  With a purse of $30,000, this competition is sure to be fierce!
