Construction on Lowes in KDH Begins

If you've driven on the Bypass through Kill Devil Hills over the past week, then you've probably noticed the lot that's being cleared beside the Times Printing building.  The 13-acre tract that was once covered in trees will be the site of the new 160,000 square-foot Lowes.  The decision on whether or not to allow Lowes to build here was a hotly debated topic over the past year, resulting in a lawsuit brought by nearby property owners who were concerned about the adverse affect the Lowes would have on their properties.  Lowes recently settled the lawsuit, and the project is moving forward full steam ahead.

Whether or not you object to the building of this big box store, the positive side is that it is expected to bring around 125 new jobs to the Outer Banks.  That's certainly good news for our local economy.  For more information on jobs at Lowes, check out www.lowes.com/careers.
