My Newest Obsession... DUCK DONUTS!
Even though I've lived here for over ten years (and many of the summers during the '90s, too), up until today, I have never indulged in one of the great Outer Banks delicacies: Duck Donuts! Holy cow, are they good!
My parents decided to visit us (or rather, their grandbabies!) this weekend. They spent yesterday taking Sam to the North Carolina Aquarium and last night having dinner at our place. This morning they went out for an errand and came back with a box of Duck Donuts. Hot, fresh and unbelievably good, those donuts didn't stand a chance in my house. Before lunch we'd devoured the whole box. What I didn't know--and what puts every chain donut store to shame--is that Duck Donuts makes every single donut to order. And, of course, a freshly made donut tastes better than one that's been sitting in a box or on a shelf. If you get a chance, stop by one of their four locations (Corolla, Kitty Hawk, KDH and Duck). My only problem: I don't know how I'm going to be able to drive by without stopping!
