Celebrate the Town of Nags Head's 50th Anniversary
This year the beautiful Town of Nags Head will be celebrating its 50th anniversary as an incorporated town. Festivities are planned for the coming months, kicking off at the Kelly's Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade this Sunday, March 20th, on the Beach Road. The Town float will lead the parade, along with town employees and current and former Nags Head officials. In April, Nags Head Elementary School will be holding an art competition with the winners having their art displayed first at Glenn Eure's Ghost Fleet Gallery and then at the Nags Head Town Hall. On May 18th from 4PM-7PM, residents are invited to tour the Town Hall for a viewing of its extensive local art collection.
The celebration comes to a head on June 14th. That morning you can attend the "Opening Ceremony" at the Windmill Point site, complete with a cake cutting, raffle, presentation of the Town gift and the annual Town Lightkeeper ceremony. That afternoon there will be a golf tournament at the Nags Head Golf Links to benefit the Community Watch. The evening of June 14th marks the first day of a 4 day carnival at the Windmill Point Site, from 5:30PM-11:30PM. And finally, that night there will be a gala at Jennette's Pier featuring food and live music. Mark your calendars now, so that you don't miss out on all the fun!
