JOIN the FUN!: Fishing on the OBX
No matter what the time of year, fishing on the Outer Banks is among the best on the East Coast. Whether you choose to charter a boat for a full day of offshore, deep water, Gulf Stream fishing or take a half day trip out to the Sound to cast a line, you're sure to have a day of fun and quite possibly bring back a bounty of fresh, North Carolina seafood. If you'd rather keep your feet firmly planted on the ground, you can always fish off of one of the local piers, bridges or off the beach. Stop into one of the local bait and tackle shops to get the skinny on what's biting and where, grab your gear, and cast a line into the Atlantic.
If you happen to be down here right now, there are still plenty of charter boats operating in the off-season. The rockfish (also known as striped bass or stripers) happen to be running right now. The marinas are also reporting recent catches of mako shark, blackfin tuna, grouper, tilefish and amberjack. So pack your bags and pack your poles and come on down to the OBX to JOIN the FUN!
