Christmas Shopping on the Outer Banks
I am a Christmas fanatic. In fact, I would say my very favorite day of the year (besides my birthday) is Christmas Eve. I love the bustle, the excitement in the air, the festiveness, and the anticipation of the next morning. Shopping for Christmas presents is something that I relish... especially when I get a chance to do that shopping locally. What we lack in big box stores, we make up for in funky boutiques and amazing local art galleries.
My family and my husband's family love the Outer Banks. I'm positive that even if we didn't live here, they'd still spend their vacations here at the beach. And for that reason, I love to give them gifts from here. Sometimes its a present that was made here (like the painting I gave my in-laws from a local artist on Gallery Row in Nags Head), and sometimes its a present sold here in a locally owned store (like the fabulous pair of earrings I gave my college best friend last year). Either way, my friends and family love the sentiment and I love supporting local businesses. I will try my best this year to buy as much locally as I possibly can, and I encourage you and yours to do the same. Support our local economy this Christmas season!
