Lowe's Coming to KDH
After a great deal of heated debate, the KDH Town Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve the Lowe's site plan with some stipulations. Town officials are currently drafting a new ordinance, pertaining only to buildings over 100,000 square feet, that will give the Lowe's an appealing, Nags Head-style facade. Lowe's plans to build a 120,587 square foot building with a garden center on the 13-acre tract of land where the Coastland Times building is located, near the Wright Brothers Memorial. The Lowe's has been met with some local opposition; many expressing their disdain at having a chain store adjacent to the Memorial or so close to the Home Depot in Kitty Hawk.
