One of my long-time favorite Joe Lamb vacation houses is transforming!  Since I was a young child I have always thought of the diminutive shingled and shuttered house as the Doll House.  Facing the ocean in Kitty Hawk the little house has just always seemed perfect to me - like something out of a fairy tale.  As I drove by a couple of weeks ago, my perfect little house was sitting high upon temporary pilings!  It reminded of a child being lifted to sit upon tall shoulders to better see the ocean.  Construction was underway to raise and enlarge the house!  Today when I drove by on the Beach Road I almost didn't recognize my "Doll House."  There is now a front porch, an additional room, and pilings that indicate decking to be added.  Drive down the Beach Road and watch the transformation.  My little house is growing up!
