Eve Ensler's Award-Winning Play, The Vagina Monolugues, at The Brewing Station Next Week
It's February, which means it's time once again for the annual performance of Eve Ensler's award winning play, The Vagina Monologues. The play has steam-rolled into a worldwide event called V-Day, which Ensler calls: "A global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions." In 2009, there were more than 4,000 V-Day events worldwide, and over $70 million has been raised. Visit vday.org for more information on this amazing movement.
I've attended the Outer Banks' V-Day for many years now, and even though the play never changes, it always moves me and makes me think about issues that are important to women. It's eye-opening, heartwarming and provacative all at the same time. I'm always moved by the brave women who take part in this powerful play. This year's production will be at the Outer Banks Brewing Station on February 8th, 9th and 10th, and the proceeds will benefit local organizations whose goal is to stop violence against women and girls. The show will start at 7:30, although doors open at 5:30. Visit obxv-day.com for ticket information or stop by one of the following ticket outlets: The Sun-Shack Bo-Tiki in Kill Devil Hills, Urban Cottage in Duck and Morning View Coffee in Nags Head.
