Festive Events This Weekend

Get in the holiday spirit with this weekend's festive events!  If you're staying north in Duck or Corolla, you won't want to miss the 3rd Annual Tree Lighting Celebration at the Whalehead Club on Saturday night beginning at 5PM.  Watch as both the giant cedar and the Currituck Beach lighthouse are simultaneously lit.  Enjoy free hot chocolate and caroling on the North Lawn.  For those visiting further south, you won't want to miss Saturday night's "Christmas Sights & Sounds" at the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site in Manteo.  For $5, you can take part in horse and carriage rides, enjoy hot chocolate and visit with Santa Claus himself!  Don't miss their upside down tree while you're there.  The Manteo event runs from 5PM-8PM.  If you feel like venturing even further south, then head to Hatteras for their annual Hatteras Christmas Parade and Dance.  The parade of floats, antique cars and horses begins at 2PM in Hatteras Village.  The dance is that evening at 9PM at the Hatteras Civic Center.  Admission to the dance is $5.

Thanks for the update on what is happening. We are looking forward to our trip to OBX in a few weeks. Nothing like mixing the beach with Christmas.
