A Thanksgiving Feast - Outer Banks Style
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day, a day of historical significance, family time, football, and--of course--food aplenty. If slaving over the stove all day doesn't appeal to you--after all, aren't you on vacation?--then consider this: let someone else prepare the turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie for your brood. I know it sounds crazy--I mean, what's Thanksgiving without the smell of turkey in the house?--but think of all the time you can spend relaxing rather than slaving over the stove. And who'll do the dishes? Not you!
There are a number of local restaurants that specialize in Thanksgiving Day feasts. Whether it's sit-down or buffet style that suits your family best, you've got plenty of places to choose from. Just listening to the radio yesterday I heard of quite a few... Kelly's Outer Banks Tavern, Pamlico Jack's, The Sanderling and Owen's, to name a few. If you have a favorite restaurant, call to see if they're open; you might be surprised. And if you can't bear the thought of not having turkey at home, consider calling Red Sky Cafe or Coastal Provisions Market. They both specialize in preparing Thanksgiving Day feasts that you can enjoy at home.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
