Francis Rogallo, "Father of Hang Gliding", Dies

If you've ever visited Jockey's Ridge State Park or taken a hang gliding lesson, you likely have heard of Francis Rogallo.  Called the "Father of Hang Gliding", Rogallo invented the flexible wing which led to the creation of hang gliding, kiteboarding, stunt kites and more.  In addition to his great contribution to sport aviation, his invention has also been used by NASA to further the space program.  Rogallo passed away on September 1 in Southern Shores.  In his honor, there will be a kiting and hang gliding day at Jockey's Ridge on September 20th from 10AM-12PM.
