Bargain Nights on the OBX
A while back I blogged about the top 10 FREE things to do on the OBX. Well free isn't exactly always easy to come by, but inexpensive is. And these days, I think a lot of us are looking for inexpensive things to do. So last night, on my quest to both entertain my family and hunt down deals to blog about, I came upon dollar taco night at The Pit. Now lots of local restaurants feature their own version of dollar taco night... I just haven't been to many of them yet. I must admit, I've been a little skeptical... after all, we cook tacos all the time at my house, so why would I pay for someone else's? But The Pit's Tuesday night dollar tacos appealed to the budget-conscious side of me, so we decided to give it a try. The crowd was decidedly young--and there was definitely a crowd--but the place had a fun, upbeat surfer vibe. My two-year old was plenty entertained by a quick walk through the adjacent surf shop and the edgy surf videos played on their movie theater screen downstairs. I was pleasantly surprised that five tacos was enough to fill up the whole family (okay, we cheated a little and brought pineapple chunks and crackers for Sam). Including two Mexican beers, our entire tab (before tip) came to $13.50! As we were leaving, we ran into Ben, the owner of The Pit, and he reminded us that every day between 4-6PM they run the dollar taco special. I'm still reeling that we fed a family of three for under $20... I'm a dollar taco night convert!

Sounds good, my family and I are staying at one of the rentals you offer (Time Out II, #307). We have a 3yr old and a 1yr old and we plan to relax and do some inexpensive things
