The Illuminating Hope Affair- An Evening to Benefit the Elizabeth Redd Lenhart Memorial Fund at First Candle
I'm taking a blog-break for today from my Top 10 FREE Things To Do on the OBX, but I promise to pick back up on that theme the next time I blog. But The Illuminating Hope Affair Fundraiser is important enough to interrupt my "FREE" blogs. This Sunday, May 3, from 4:30 to 10PM, stop by the Aqua S Restaurant & Spa in Duck for "The Illuminating Hope Affair - An Evening to Benefit the Elizabeth Redd Lenhart Memorial Fund at First Candle". The event raises money and awareness for First Candle, a national non-profit that promotes infant health and survival. Tickets are $25, and include food, beer and wine. There will be live music and a silent auction.
On a personal note, I met baby Elizabeth Lenhart and her parents Jessica and John last fall when she was just a few weeks old at a birthday party for a mutual friend. They were so in love with their new baby, absolutely glowing with pride and happiness. Elizabeth died of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) just a few weeks later. The news rocked everyone who knew the Lenharts, and many who didn't know them. The Illuminating Hope Affair is a great opportunity to show community support for this local family.
