Nags Head to Keep Its 4th of July Celebration

For the past 13 years, the Town of Nags Head has put on its 4th of July fireworks display from the Nags Head Fishing Pier for residents and tourists to enjoy.  An estimated 35,000 people watch the Nags Head fireworks every year.  When town officials discussed the possibility of cutting the firework display from its budget, residents, rental companies and restaurants were up in arms.  But after a 3-2 vote last week, the show will go on as planned. The town is now seeking donations to help cover expenses including the cost of fireworks and overtime expenses for town employees.
