Election Day on the Outer Banks
Today is November 4, Election Day! No matter who you vote for or what your party affiliation is, it is our privilege and duty as Americans to get out and vote. I was so excited to vote this year that I took Sam and went to the Baum Center in Kill Devil Hills to vote early last week. To my surprise, the line was over an hour long! I couldn't believe it... nearly a week before Election Day so many people had come out to cast their ballots. I was very moved by the turnout, but unfortunately could not stay long enough to vote. (It's not that easy to keep a 1-year-old entertained in line for an hour without toys, snacks or his stroller!) Lesson learned... on Saturday morning, bright and early, the whole family went to Manteo to cast our ballots, but this time we brought along all the accoutrements to keep Sam occupied. The line in Manteo moved quickly, and we were out of there with our "I Voted" stickers on our shirts within twenty minutes!
