Moonlight Tours of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse offered August 16
Two very special tours of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse will take place Saturday August 16 at 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. On this night of the full moon, adventurers can climb to the top of the lighthouse using hand held flashlights. Very cool! They will also hear stories about the history of the lighthouse and learn about the many tasks the light keepers had to perform in order to keep this sentinel of the shoals operating. At the top, visitors are treated to the sight of the full moon over the ocean and the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse's beam over the ocean and sound.
Tours are limited to 30 people, and tickets are required. They go on sale August 14 - $7.00 for adults and $3.50 for children - and can be purchased at the lighthouse ticket booth at the lighthouse site. Its open from 8:15 a.m. and 5:40 p.m.
The Park Service wants you to know that

2. In order to climb the lighthouse you must be 42 inches tall.
3. Kids under 12 must be accompanied by a grown up.
4. Everyone on the tour must climb the tower together.
