Base of Historic Lighthouses Open for Viewing
This just in from the National Park Service. The base of the Bodie Island Lighthouse south of Nags Head and the Ocracoke Lighthouse on Ocracoke Island will be open for viewing this summer. This summer you can view the base of the Bodie Island Lighthouse from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. daily. Rangers or volunteers will be on hand to share stories about the lighthouse and to answer questions.
Visitors can view the base of Ocracoke Lighthouse in June on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Tuesdays from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. - Noon. Hours will vary later in the summer. Neither towers are available for climbing. Both lighthouses are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
