Child Prodigy to Present Concert of Indian Music at Festival Park
A concert of traditional Indian music will be presented by Aishu at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo. The 13 year old began playing the violin at age 2 and was soon studying South Indian music under the great violin maestro T.N. Krishnan.
South Indian music has 72 primary scales and 6000 derived scales, giving it a different tonality and sophistication than most western music we are accustomed to hearing. It is rooted in religion and can be traced to early Sanskrit texts as well as the hymns of Hindu temples.
The concert will take place in the Art Gallery at Festival Park, Sunday March 30 at 4:00 p.m. Admission is free with a paid admission to the park.
