March brings many wonderful things to the Outer Banks

Old Man Winter got you down?  Tired of sitting inside?  Then come recharge yourself on the Outer Banks. Yes , March on the Outer Banks! March 1 - 31 --  History, Arts and Fun - All Rolled Into One! Enjoy daily programs aboard the Elizabeth II, a sixteenth century representative sailing ship. Visit the Settlement Site and experience blacksmithing, woodworking and games. Explore 400 years of Outer Banks history in the interactive Roanoke Adventure Museum. Settle in for a docu-drama, in The Film Theatre, entitled "The Legend of Two- Path". See impressive works of art in the Art Gallery. Discover unique gifts in the Museum Store. Find ancient treasures in our Fossil Pit. Take a leisurely stroll on our waterside boardwalk and view our award winning shoreline restoration project, the maritime forest and marsh conservation area. Here life takes on a whole new perspective as you observe the hidden pristine beauty and quiet surroundings. There are several benches on the way for rest and reflection and also picnic tables. Hours vary seasonally. Admission charged. 
 

March 1 -27 ---Tenth Annual Priceless Pieces Past & Present Quilt Extravaganza 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. -Monday - Friday Sat and Sunday noon- 4 p.m. Art Gallery at Roanoke Island Festival Park. In this special tenth anniversary show, residents of Dare County participate in a community-wide celebration of the art of quilting. Approximately a hundred quilts, both heirloom pieces and new creations will be on exhibit, along with quilting demonstrations and educational displays.  It is free and open to the public.
