Dogs allowed on beach year round, and must be on a leash.

DUCK 
Dogs allowed on beach year round, and must be under the watch and control of their owner.

SOUTHERN SHORES
Dogs allowed on beach September 15 - May 15, and must be on a leash. Dogs prohibited during summer months.

KITTY HAWK
Dogs allowed on beach year round, and must be on a leash no more than 12 feet and under the control of their owner. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day dogs are restricted to 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

KILL DEVIL HILLS
Dogs allowed year round, and must be on a leash and under the control of their owner. Between May 15 - September 15 dogs are restricted to before 9:00 a.m. and after 6:00 p.m

NAGS HEAD
Dogs allowed year round, and must be on a leash no more than 10 feet and under the control of their owner.

CAPE HATTERAS NATIONAL SEASHORE
Dogs allowed year round, and must be on a leash no more than 6 feet. 

ASSISTANCE DOGS ARE ALLOWED ON ALL BEACHES AS LONG AS RESTRAINED BY A LEASH.

  ***Dog owners are responsible for picking up and disposing of feces in appropriate trash receptacles. Please do not bury feces in the sand or throw in the ocean.  Please be sure to pick up lawn areas around your cottage as well.***
